Origin: almost certainly FranceDate: ca. 1920-1925This South American Rhea / Nandu feather flapper fan is rare. It is similar in style to the Rhea fan shown in the fashion plate by Barbier dated to 1921. This fan is made of white mother of pearl sticks and Rhea (Rhea americana) feathers that are dyed a sea foam green (eau-de-nil) colour – a quintessential Art Deco Era colour!Length: 20″ (50 cm) Width: 31″ (78 cm)Condition: This fan is in good condition with minor wear on the tips of the feathers along the upper edge and a small, pale yellow smudge (see photos). One of the inner mother of pearl sticks has an invisible repair.
